Headaches

Regrettably, airplane travel may be a headache generator, especially for pint-sized passengers.

Airplane Headache (AH) is exclusively related to airplane travels, and although may occur at any time during a flight; there is a higher incidence during the take-off and landing phase.1

Motion Sickness

Headaches arising due to motion sickness from riding in cars can also make your child miserable. Symptoms such as nausea, dizziness and headache are common to motion sickness.2 Encourage your child to look outside the window of the car rather than putting their head down and focusing on books, games or screens.

If your child is prone to motion sickness, don’t forget to pack recently launched and conveniently packaged, Panado® Paediatric Syrup, Peppermint 5 ml Sachets, for the symptomatic treatment of pain and fever for kids on the move.

Panado® Paediatric Syrup, Peppermint 5 ml Sachets contain paracetamol, which is included in the List of Essential Medicines for Children of the World Health Organization.3

Avoid Overdoing It

Bear in mind that babies and toddlers lack the tolerance that you do for lengthy road trips. If your car trip will take several hours or days, break it up with pauses for playing, eating, and sleeping.

Plan Trips Around Your Child’s Sleep Time

Your infant or toddler may slumber during your road trip if you’re fortunate! Some experts encourage driving at night when travelling with toddlers or infants. However, arriving in the middle of the night may rouse your children and disrupt their circadian patterns as well.

Provide Lots (and Lots) Of Snacks

Pack some nutritious travel snacks for children. Consider whole-grain cereals, fruit chunks, and cheese cubes. To ensure food safety, keep refrigerated items in a cooler bag. If your child is prone to choking, serve snacks and meals at a rest stop, park, or restaurant.

Ensure That Your Child Is Properly Secured

Make sure children are properly buckled in a car seat, booster seat, or seat belt – whichever is appropriate for their age, height, and weight.4a

The Centre for Disease Control and Prevention says that data shows the correct use of a car seat reduces the risk for injuries in crashes by 71% – 82% for children, when compared with seat belt use alone, while booster seats reduce the risk for serious injury by 45% for children aged 4-8, when compared to seat belt use alone.4b

Wow really good advise in this article. I will definitely get some of these.

@Lynne do you know where I can get these sachets? Does it also come in the straverry flavor? My kid prefers that over the peppermint.

@Mommies I use panado syrup for when my baby goes fthrough teething stages. It helps alot.
I’ve also given her panado to bring down fevers and it worked wonders.

Will definitely think of getting sachets for when we are going on holiday as it makes things so much easier ❤️

Hi Tanya, I will check up on the flavour options and let you know as soon as possible. I know they will be available at Dischem, since I am being gifted some to try out and that’s where I need to claim them from I will find out where to get them. The first thing that came to my mind was no more sticky spoons and spills while travelling 🙂 And it will be so much easier taking sachets than bottles of Panado, everything gets so sticky. Maybe that’s just me though, not sure if other moms are as messy as me!

I’m also a huge fan of Panado, I always have it in our home!

    • This is definitely a must have for every mom when travelling
I love the fact that its convenient to use and easy to carry around
No more stressing about a broken bottle on the bag
I’m going to definitely stock on these especially for my teething baby it will be much of help to me

Having Panado on hand is a must when you travel with a teething baby. I am so glad the teething days are long gone for me! You are so right, it is no fun being out and about with a glass bottle. I’m getting some of these sachets to try out probably next week – super excited to check them out.

I’ve got the confirmed answers to your questions now 🙂 It only comes in Peppermint and you can get them from selected Dis-Chem, Clicks and Pick n Pay stores. Take note that when I went to the Dis-Chem in our area they were not in stock, so I ordered on their website Click & Collect and they were available to collect from the store within 24 hours. I was quite impressed!
