Ingredients
- 250g of your favourite pasta (linguine, fettuccine, or spaghetti work well)
- 6 slices of bacon
- 1 cup sliced mushrooms (cremini or white button mushrooms)
- 3 cloves of garlic, minced
- ½ cup heavy cream
- ½ cup chicken or vegetable broth
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons butter
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Cook the Pasta – Start by boiling a large pot of salted water. Add your pasta and cook according to the package instructions until al dente. Once cooked, drain the pasta and set it aside.
- Cook the Bacon – In a large skillet, cook the bacon over medium heat until it’s crispy and brown. Remove the bacon from the skillet and place it on a paper towel-lined plate to drain the excess grease. Once it’s cooled, crumble or chop the bacon into small pieces.
- Sauté the Mushrooms -In the same skillet, using the bacon drippings, add the sliced mushrooms and minced garlic. Sauté them until the mushrooms are tender and slightly browned, about 5-7 minutes. Season with a pinch of salt and black pepper.
- Create the Sauce – Pour in the heavy cream and chicken (or vegetable) broth, and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer. Let it cook for a few minutes to allow the sauce to thicken slightly.
- Add the Parmesan and Butter – Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese and butter, and let them melt into the sauce. This will further thicken the sauce and make it incredibly creamy and rich.
- Combine Pasta and Bacon – Return the cooked pasta to the skillet and gently toss it in the creamy bacon mushroom sauce until everything is well coated.
