Last year I bought myself a crock pot and I have been absolutely loving it. Over the years a few people have suggested I buy a crock pot and I never bothered to look into it until I was told by another mother that a slow cooker can make life so much easier for a busy mom.
Of course when I heard that I didn’t need much more encouragement and after I bought myself one my mom asked me about it and I convinced her to buy one too, much to her happiness and she is using it for lots of things, including making up her own stock.
I have found there are so many awesome benefits of crock pot cooking:

1 One Pot Cooking
Cooking a meal in one dish is something I love doing, whether it is in the slow cooker or a casserole in the oven. It takes less effort to keep an eye on one dish, plus there is then only one dish to clean (big time win).
Cooking everything together often gives the food a lovely taste too, especially when it is cooked for so long on such low heat. You can make the best casseroles with a crock pot.
And a bonus? I have found the crock pot oh so easy to clean too! It doesn’t need scrubbing, just soak some hot soapy water in it for about 20 minutes and it just wipes clean with a cloth!
2 Early Preparation
This is one of the best benefits of crock pot cooking for me. It is not easy to cook at the end of the day in a rush with children that are clamoring for my attention. When I cook with my slow cooker I put it in in the morning and leave it until supper time and all I have to do is dish it up.
It is so easy to take meat out of the freezer in the evening to defrost and in the morning when I pack school lunches pop it in the slow cooker with some potatoes and vegetables. At the end of the day it is so convenient because my husband doesn’t always get home at exactly the same time, meaning that I am never sure when to start supper so it is ready to eat when he gets home. With the slow cooker that is not a problem at all because it will stay in the slow cooker ready to dish up whenever he gets home meaning the meal is always hot and ready when needed.
3 Set And Forget
Cooking in a slow cooker doesn’t really require checking on the food. I just set it on low and literally forget about it the whole day. I have often gone out for the day running errands and our meal is busy cooking.
For busy working moms, this is the ultimate isn’t it? Throw your food in the crock pot in the morning and come home to a hot cooked meal with no effort at all.
4 Crock Pots Save Energy
A crock pot uses hardly any electricity compared to cooking in the oven, so you will save on energy costs!
5 Crock Pot Cooking Is Healthier
When you cook in a crock pot your food is being cooked mostly in its own juices which means you don’t need to add any butter or oil to your cooking, so there is a lot less fat in your food.
Due to cooking your food at such low heat your food will retain so much more of its nutritional value compared to boiling or roasting your food.
More bacteria is also destroyed by this method of cooking than by any other due to the steamed and covered environment of the crock pot. This makes cooking healthy meals in your crock pot so easy.
I’m sure if you look at all these benefits you can see how getting a crock pot will make your life so much easier.
