12 Essential Skin Care Tips For Women Over 30

Now that I am in my thirties and hurtling at an alarming pace towards 40 I can see the wrinkles starting and I am now starting to pay attention to the fact that I need to start looking after my skin more, otherwise I am going to look old and wrinkled before my time!

My skin has lost it’s elasticity, I have some discoloration which started during my first pregnancy (the mask of pregnancy) and let’s not even get started on my stretch marks from pregnancy!

I started researching skin care tips for women over 30 and I am pleased to say that it has made a very positive impact on my skin.

I really recommend that you start with basic skin care as soon as possible and not only when you start to see wrinkles, since this will help you to look more youthful.

Skin Care Tips For Women Over 30

Cleanse, Tone and Moisturize

You need to cleanse, tone and moisturize your skin daily. While you may have been able to get away with not doing this in your twenties when you reach your thirties you will find that your skin needs a lot more care.

Having a daily skin care routine where you cleanse, tone and moisturize your skin will keep your skin looking clean, fresh and healthy.

Drink Lots Of Water

Drinking water comes with loads of health benefits, including weight loss and helping your skin to stay hydrated and nourished. Drinking lots of water is absolutely essential to your overall health and your skin will thank you for it.

Avoid Cigarettes And Alcohol

If you can give up smoking you will see the difference to your skin within a very short space of time. Smoking cigarettes and drinking alcohol has a very negative impact on your skin.

Exercise Regularly

Getting in some regular exercise will help to cleanse your skin, nourish your cells and to flush out any toxins. Exercising will benefit your health in many more ways than your skin so you should really make some time to fit in a bit of exercise.

If you can manage a 30 minute brisk walk a few times a week it will make a huge difference to your skin and your overall health.

Exfoliate Regularly

Exfoliating your skin 3 times a week will get rid of the dead skin cells on your skin and leave your skin looking brighter and healthier. You can buy scrubs or you can easily make your own DIY scrubs using ingredients you probably have in your kitchen already.

Use Sunscreen Every Day

Having a tan may look sexy when you are young, but when you are older you will pay for it dearly. Make sure to wear sunscreen that is SPF 30 or higher. You can also buy foundation or day cream that contains sunscreen in it.

Have A Facial

Having a facial regularly will give you face a deep cleanse and will make such a difference to your skin. It will help to keep you looking radiant and young.

Eat Fruit & Veggies

As you get older you will find that you need to pay more attention to what you eat. When you are younger you can get away with eating junk food more often but as you age you will need to include lots of fresh fruit and vegetables in your diet.

Eating fruit, salads and vegetables will help to flush the toxins out of your skin and keep your skin healthy.

Use Face Masks

Face masks can help to keep your skin looking young and healthy. You can buy face masks or you can make your own using simple ingredients from your kitchen which will cost a lot less and be much more convenient.

Massage Your Skin

Massage has loads of health benefits that are hard to ignore. One benefit is that it helps to improve the health of your skin. It will help to improve circulation, which will increase blood flow so your skin will absorb more nutrients. Massage also helps to reduce scarring and stretch marks, so if you have had a baby massaging your skin is a great idea.

Moisturize Your Body

While your face may be your main concern, all your skin needs attention. It is essential to find a really good moisturizer and apply it to your body twice a day too.

Give special attention to areas that are prone to getting dry such as your elbows, knees and heels. You may also want to invest in a high quality hand and nail cream since you are always using your hands and the skin on your hands can get dry and damaged especially when you are doing things like washing dishes.

Use Night Cream

Night creams don’t contain SPF and they are often heavier and more hydrating than day creams. Very often the ingredients in night creams are for anti-aging and these ingredients can irritate your skin and increase your skin’s sensitivity. Since your skins sensitivity can increase when exposed to UV rays. This is why these ingredients are put into night creams and not recommended for during the day.

Using a night cream can greatly improve your skin’s health and help with anti-aging. Just apply a generous layer of night cream every evening before you go to bed and massage it in for best effects.
