Soverby Lapa Review – Beautiful Restaurant In Dwarskersbos

I’m so happy to be able to tick this restaurant off my West Coast bucket list and share my Soverby Lapa review with you. One of the owners of this restaurant (Charldo de Kock) had Charlie’s Deli in Jacobs Bay, then he also opened a restaurant at the Life West Coast hospital in Vredenburg. Charlie’s Deli closed down and I’m not sure whether the restaurant at the hospital is still open. I’ve driven past the Soverby Lapa in Dwarskersbos so many times and I’ve been trying to find the time to stop in. In January I went to eat there with my parents, children, and father in law.

 

Soverby Lapa

The Soverby Lapa is off the main road as you travel from Velddrif to Dwarsbersbos. It is positioned right on the beach with a wooden walkway from the restaurant onto the beach.

They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and are open from 9am until 8pm Wednesdays and Thursdays, 9am until 9pm Fridays and Saturdays, and 9am until 5pm on Sundays. They are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Items on the menu include breakfasts, light meals, seafood, burgers, steak, nachos, chicken strips, and more. They also have some kiddies meals, milkshakes, cocktails, and desserts.

The venue can be rented out for functions and is a popular venue for weddings.

My Soverby Lapa Review

When I walked into Soverby Lapa I was taken by surprise at how upmarket and beautiful it is inside. I was not expecting it at all. There is indoor and outdoor table seating, with a lovely, comfortable couch on the desk. The tables are really big with plenty of space around each table. You know when you go to a restaurant and you feel cramped at the table and like other people are sitting on top of you? And when you have to shuffle things around on the table when the waiter brings something so you can fit it on the table? This is not an issue you are going to encounter at Soverby Lapa.

My cappuccino was divine. It came in a lovely big cup and was one of the best cappuccinos I’ve ever drunk, so I had to order another after our meal.

We went for breakfast and we all ordered the Executive Breakfast. It had two eggs, two pieces of bacon, wors, mushrooms, grilled tomato, baked beans, chips, and home baked bread with butter and jam. It was beautifully prepared, I particularly loved the mushrooms.
