January 2023 was a busy month. The school calendar has been jam packed and work has started off with a bang which is fantastic.

Exploring Velddrif And Making New Friends

The thing that stands out for me the most about January is how much fun it has been exploring the area and I’ve made some new friends. It is always appreciated to go out for coffee with mom friends.

We started the new year off with a river cruise down the Berg River on the Cracklin Rosie. It is something I’ve wanted to do since we moved here and I finally got the chance to thanks to West Coast Way gifting me and my family tickets. The cruise did not disappoint, check out my review here.

A mom living in Velddrif that follows my page reached out and we went for lunch at Avoo Health Cafe at Bokkomlaan. It’s a lovely spot that serves health food. I haven’t had a chance to publish a review on it yet. Thanks Bev for reaching out and introducing me Avoo, it was awesome.

The following week Bev introduced me to Megan, another mom in the area, and we went to Columbine Co for coffee and cake. I will publish my review on Columbine Co soon. Another stunning place in Bokkomlaan.

I can see Bokkomlaan becoming a favourite spot of mine to hang out.

My parents made a trip to the area early January and we went out to breakfast at Soverby Lapa in Dwarskersbos. It’s another spot I’ve had my eye on for a while and it did not disappoint. You can read my review here.

Back To School

The school year always starts off with a busy calendar. Interhouse athletics day is always in the second week of school and even though its always then for some reason it always catches me off guard. I must make a note for next year to be prepared. I really enjoyed the sports day this year since we are now living far from the school my kids take the bus. I didn’t realize how much I enjoyed chatting to the other moms every while waiting for my kids to come out. It was my daily dose of socialising.

It was lovely to see all the moms again and catch up with them. I also enjoy watching my kids run in the races.

One thing about the start of each school year that really rocks me is that it is the anniversary of my miscarriage. All the back to school activities, especially covering books brings back sad memories for me. It was 5 years ago, but healing takes time and while I’ve done plenty of healing over the years I don’t think the pain ever goes away completely.

My First Campaign With The Salt

I joined The Salt a long time ago and I’ve never really paid much attention to it. Towards the end of last year I decided to put a little more effort in. I updated my profile and answered some quizzes, very soon after that I received my first paid campaign with them.

The Salt is a platform that offers payment in return for promoting products on social media. You don’t have to be a blogger or an influencer to join and get jobs, anyone can apply. I found the team at The Salt to be fantastic with communication and helping me understand what I needed to do for the campaign, plus payment was very quick once the campaign was completed.

Making Money With Online Surveys

My all time favourite platform for making extra money on the side is Ysense. You can earn through completing surveys and offers, playing games, and referring others. On average I earn about $100 a month through Ysense. You can sign up here and read my review on Ysense here for more information on it.

I saw a lot of people sharing about Easy Earn on social media. So I signed up and checked it out. Warning… it is a massive scam! I don’t like to write negative reviews on my website, usually if I have nothing nice to say I just keep quiet, but scams get my blood boiling and it makes me so sad when I see so many people falling for it. So I wrote a review on it, if you want to see what it’s all about check it out here.

I also tried out Rewardy – a platform that pays you to watch videos, complete offers and surveys, play games, and refer others. I withdrew my first amount last week and they paid me within minutes which made me happy. I will write a review on it in February, but if you want to have a look you can sign up here. I will write a detailed review on it as soon as possible. One tip I will share so long is don’t watch their videos using data. I’ve never seen a gig disappear so fast in my life. Make sure you only watch videos to earn using your wifi.
