  • Extreme Fatigue

During the first week of conception, many women experience extreme fatigue as an early sign of pregnancy. During conception, a hormonal change like an increase in the production of progesterone in our body makes us feel tired. The body uses a lot of vital nutrients to make a hospitable atmosphere for the baby. In the first week of the pregnancy, the blood sugar level decreases and the amount of progesterone increases immediately which is responsible for the extreme fatigue most pregnant women experience.

  • Darkening of Areola

Areolas are the areas around your nipples. After 2 weeks of conception, your areolas become enlarged and darken. The nipples also increase in size, shape and sensitivity form little bumps called Montgomery tubercles as your milk glands prepare themselves to feed a tiny human.


  • Body Temperature

Normally body temperature rises around the time of ovulation and decreases when you have your period. If your body temperature remains at a high level after ovulation then it may be a sign of pregnancy. High hormone levels during pregnancy lead to an increase in your body temperature, so you might be feeling a little warmer.

  • Tender Breasts

Breast tenderness and sensitivity are very common symptoms of pregnancy that appear one to two weeks after conception. A sudden hormonal change takes place in the body when you become pregnant. Increase in the levels of estrogen and progesterone causes breasts to retain more fluids.

Cervical mucus is a very early sign of pregnancy which causes changes in the texture of vaginal discharge. During ovulation, vaginal discharge is similar to egg white, but if your discharge becomes thicker, milky white and creamier due to an increase of blow flow and estrogen in your body it can be a sign of pregnancy.

  • Constipation

After conception, high levels of progesterone disturbs your regular digestion process and can cause constipation throughout the pregnancy. Progesterone relaxes most of the muscles in the body and this relaxation of muscles causes constipation that might get worse as the pregnancy progresses. Bloating and heartburn can also associated with constipation.

  • Food Cravings

Changes in taste and cravings is also an early sign of pregnancy. Your senses of taste and smell become stronger and can last throughout the whole pregnancy. You can feel a metallic taste in your mouth due to a condition called dysgeusia. Due to an increased level of progesterone and estrogen, you may start craving new foods.

  • Mood Swings

Women go through mood changes during their menstrual cycle and pregnancy can be even worse and women might find themselves crying for no reason. Mood swings may cause feelings of depression, irritation and anxiety. The rapid increase in the level of estrogen and progesterone are believed to cause these changes in mood.


  • Implantation Bleeding

Some women undergo light bleeding or spotting in the first 2 weeks of pregnancy. This is called implantation bleeding, which can occur when the fertilized egg attaches to the uterine lining. Implantation bleeding usually lasts for 2 days, the blood is light in colour. Implantation bleeding can also be accompanied by cramps, headaches and nausea.

  • Increased Urination

Frequent urination is also a very strong and early sign of pregnancy. During pregnancy, the blood flow to the kidneys increases and this increased blood flow causes kidneys to produce 25% more urine. Another bladder problem associated with pregnancy is that the increased level of progesterone causes bladder muscles to relax which results in leaking of urine without even having an urge to urinate.
