Being pregnant is a wonderful part of life. You have a little life growing inside of you and these moments are moments that you will remember for the rest of your life. Make them special and treat yourself and the unborn baby with a healthy lifestyle. Being pregnant isn’t a punishment but a gift. A gift that you should honor throughout the journey. There are so many things you can do to keep your body healthy so soak in all the suggestions you find out there. Remember, if you are active then stay active, this is no time to quit running or exercising unless your doctor tells you to. Many pregnant women go on to run, swim, hike and walk. Just don’t do anything that could make you harm yourself or the baby, nothing on the bit of extreme list. But, you get the idea.
Stop Smoking And Drinking
You would think that in this day and age it would be fairly obvious that you shouldn’t do these things while pregnant. However, go sit in public and watch and you will see many women continue to smoke through their pregnancy. With all the ways to quit smoking available, there just is not an excuse to not want to quit. Think about it, you don’t want to have a baby that is addicted to nicotine right off the bat. So, stopping should be a concern that you can discuss with your doctor. The same goes for drinking alcohol and doing any kind of street drugs or medications that you don’t need. This includes over the counter medications. Everything should be discussed with your doctor on what is safe to take should you need a pain reliever or something of this sort.
Be kind to yourself and your body. You will need plenty of rest and you will not be as active as you once were. This is the time to take time for you. Do not be too hard on yourself. You will need naps and rest, you have a growing being inside you. You will need extra calories too. But, don’t make these calories empty calories, be sure to eat healthy as well. The pregnancy cravings are very real and just enjoy going with it. If you notice a pattern in your cravings, be sure to have that food on hand at all times. Pampering yourself a bit now will allow your body to accept all the changes ahead. It is also important to get routine checkups and ultrasounds. 16 week ultrasound services are a very important and exciting appointment.
Manage Stress In A Healthy way
Find your tribe. You need to surround yourself with supportive, kind and loving people. Keep your communication lines with your partner open on how you are feeling and the emotions you are going through. Because this is a time that you will be more tired than normal, they may need to pick up the slack for you. Learn ways to calm yourself such as taking a deep breathe and taking a bath to allow yourself some time to relax. Try not to put too much pressure on yourself, especially if this is a second or beyond pregnancy.
