Welcome to 2015

Happy New Year And Bring On 2015!

Bring on 2015, 2014 was a tough one! As 2014 comes to a close and most people are probably thinking about New Years Resolutions I can honestly say I have had a good hard year and I am looking forward to 2015.

This year started off with me taking off a total of 2 weeks off from work to have my baby via c-section, on the 6th January I was back at work full day dragging my newborn with me. I have worked with my boy full time until he was 10 months old and then he started creche half day for the last 2 months and was with me at work for the second half of the day.

At the end of 2013 (6 months pregnant) I moved business premises and opened a walk-in shop (then quickly had a baby). In 2014 I managed to relaunch the Kaboutjie website with a baby attached to a boob and a toddler hanging on my leg.

This year has been nothing short of challenging in every way and I am going to go into the New Year without beating myself up for any failures, I am rather congratulating myself for making it in one piece and my sanity (mostly)!

Today I go on “leave” for a week with my kids to visit my parents. I say “leave” because I have to launch our wholesale website before that section of my company opens on the 15 January 2015.

I am looking forward to 2015 as for the first time in over a year I will be able to work normal working hours without any children – both my kids will be in creche full time. That calls for a celebration! No more waking at 5am to try and get things done before the kids wake up, no more sitting till midnight while the kids sleep trying to launch websites or load content and no trying to give my child some attention while running a business during the day.

I am going to look at 2015 as my year, my focus will be on keeping normal working hours and reserving weekends and evenings for my family and rest. I have never looked forward to a New Year with so much eagerness.

How was your 2014? Do you have any new year resolutions?
