A desire to have shiny white teeth is not a new thing. Charles Pincus created the first dental veneers in 1928, although there were also incidents where actors simply glued white pieces to their teeth.
Today, the techniques have improved and anyone wishing to be an actor, singer, or even politician needs to have a great smile.
Of course, this has led to people attempting to replicate the look at home. That’s why there are now numerous whitening products on the market.
The question is, can you whiten your teeth in one day?
Visiting The Dentist
You should already be visiting your dentist regularly. That means you can ask them about the whitening procedure. Alternatively, you can go to a dentist like this Sydney Park dentist, who has an excellent reputation for teeth whitening.
Your dentist will apply a bleaching agent to your teeth. They will then use a special heat lamp and position it over your teeth. You’ll need to stay still while this process is being done. The heat lamp speeds up the reaction of the whitening agent. However, it does mean the procedure can take up to 2 hours to complete.
Before you start you will need to discuss with the dentist how much whiter you would like your teeth to be. The procedure can lighten them by up to 8 shades.
Once the process is finished you will have noticeably whiter teeth. In short, you will have whitened your teeth within one day.
However, it should be noted that it can take up to two weeks for the full effects to appear. In other words, your teeth will continue to get a little whiter each day.
The dentist isn’t just the fastest option. It’s also the safest. The whitening gel is made up of hydrogen peroxide which, combined with the heat lamp, oxidises stains on your teeth. It effectively removes them and whitens your teeth without damaging the surface.
Doing It At Home
It is possible to whiten your teeth at home. But, it’s not possible to achieve the same results in just one day. The solutions of hydrogen peroxide for use at home are substantially weaker than those used by your dentist.
There are two options for home whitening:
- Whitening solutions
These work in a similar way to the solution and heat lamp at your dentist. However, as mentioned the compound isn’t as powerful and you won’t have a heat lamp to speed up the results. In short, it will take much longer to see results this way.
- Toothpaste
Whitening toothpaste is a common sight in stores and can be used when brushing your teeth. It will very slowly whiten your teeth and can take months to achieve the desired result.
It should be noted that whitening toothpaste use abrasives to remove stains and improve the look of your teeth. This process can also remove the enamel on your teeth, making them more vulnerable to attack and decay.
Hi Lynne what’s cost of this is what I would love
