Another concern moms bring up regarding baltic amber teething necklaces is whether it is a choking hazard or not. I have searched online and there are many articles relate to the apparent hazards of baltic amber teething necklaces, but I have not find one reference to a baby dying from wearing one. If I am incorrect feel free to correct me in the comments!
Remember the following when purchasing an amber teething necklace:
- Baltic amber teething necklaces are approximately 32cm long, baby should not be able to get the beads in his/ her mouth!
- Baltic amber teething necklaces should be removed when baby sleeps.
- The way this type of teething necklace works is to be worn against the skin NOT to be chewed on!
- The strand is knotted in between each bead so if the necklace breaks it does not pose a choking hazard.
- The strand is actually meant to break if too much strain is put on it to prevent a strangling hazard!
- Remove the necklace when bathing as this can over time reduce the effectiveness of the necklace due to it coming into contact with water, soap and other elements.
- Make sure you are buying from a reputable store that has a certificate of authenticity, fakes are sold everywhere! The price of a baltic amber teething necklace is currently at least R200. If it is cheap it is probably plastic!

oh! I see now! 🙂
I was wondering how this necklace works as it’s not meant to be chewed on. Reading your product page, they explain it well, how the amber provides natural pain relief. That is very good to know. Lots of great safety tips here too about baby safety. Thanks for the great info. 🙂
Didn’t see any improvement with my little one.
