This monthly event was cancelled during hard lockdown and is being re-started with strict Covid-19 protocols in place: the volunteer organisers are committed to making it a socially distanced, sanitized and masked event, held outdoors in Palmer Road, the centre of Muizenberg Village.A non-profit community initiative aimed at showcasing ‘Muizenberg beyond the beachfront’, the Village Vibes Experience is a family-friendly event. The day includes:
Street Market: 30-plus traders with stalls ranging from vintage clothing to books, vinyl, jewellery, handcrafts, handmade kids toys, accessories and clothes, natural body products, handmade plant boxes and hangers and plenty of food, including Indian style street food and traditional Malay koesisters.
Live Music: Lonely Dave Ferguson (FB: @davefergusonofficial) will perform a solo harmonica bluesy looping set, while gypsy jazz maestro Daniel Zachariah Franks (FB: @danielfranksmusic) will bring some swing to the street, while resident vinyl DJ Sam will be spinning records in-between.
Shops: Resident Palmer Road shops will be open, offering streetwear, pottery, jewellery, meditation chairs, handcrafts and more, while JOON restaurant – voted as one of the Top 15 Pizza Places in Cape Town (by locals in Cape Town Magazine) will have their pizza oven firing all day.
Kids Market: Kid-trepreneurs will be selling their makes and bakes in a separate courtyard market.
Kids Show: Jungle Theatre Company will be bringing ‘Healthy Bird’ to the kids’ courtyard, with an interactive workshop afterwards.
