Treetops Scarborough Nature Lodge

Scarborough Nature Lodge Review – Beautiful And Rustic

Over the Easter school holidays my older sister and nephew visited from the United Kingdom, which meant that my whole family wanted to get together. We decided to rent accommodation in Scarborough near my younger sister’s home as we couldn’t all fit at her place. We rented accommodation for a week at Scarborough Nature Lodge.

About Scarborough Nature Lodge

Scarborough Nature Lodge caters to free-spirited adventure seekers and nature enthusiasts. Set on the mountainside among the branches of a majestic 30-year-old Cape Ash Tree, its Treetop cabins provide a distinctive retreat, offering a beautiful view of the ocean.

Treetops has a 120 square metre deck, with two cabins with a waterproof tent in between them with a fully equipped kitchen and dining area. There is an additional cabin available if needed.

My Review

The Treetops cabins at Scarborough Nature Lodge are amazing, from the moment we entered we were blown away by the gorgeous view and the huge Ash tree. The two cabins are small but comfortable, each with a double bed, shelving, and hanging space for luggage. Bedding and towels are provided. Each cabin has chairs outside it to enjoy the outdoor setting and view.

Treetops Kitchen

The kitchen area has everything you need – fridge, gas hob, microwave, kettle, toaster, and plenty of cutlery, crockery, and cooking utensils. There is a huge dining table with plenty of chairs. There is hammock on the deck, as well as a bed with cushions for lounging on.

Around the corner from the cabins and kitchen area is a braai area and a bathroom with basin, toilet, and shower. Wifi is available, which is always a winner, especially since the cell coverage was not great.

Beautiful views Treetops

My parents, my daughter, and I stayed at Treetops while both my sisters, my son, and my nephew stayed at my sister’s house. We moved between her house and the accommodation to spend time together. The accommodation was not really suitable for eight people, while we could all fit around the table it was a squeeze, so if you are a large group of people take note of that.

The first two days the weather was lovely and being in such a beautiful outdoor setting was amazing, but it quicky turned cold, windy, and rainy. Only the cabins are completely indoors, with all other areas, including the bathroom, being quite open to the elements. This made it tricky for us all to spend time there in the cold.

Another possible downside, is that there are stairs up to the accommodation. It was fine for most of us, but my father struggled a bit since he is not a young man anymore and he has been having some difficulty with his hip.

Scarborough is a small Conservation Village and Scarborough Nature Lodge is a very quick walk to Camel Rock which is the heart of the community. Camel Rock is a restaurant that host loads of community events like markets. There is always something happening there. It is an easy walk to the beach and to mountain hiking trails.

I loved staying at Scarborough Nature Lodge, I didn’t even mind the cold, it was so beautiful, rustic, and peaceful. Nature always feeds my soul.
