There are a lot of benefits from putting on a baby registry. You’ll make sure that you get the things that you’ll need the most and you won’t have everybody getting you the same things. For instance, you may have your heart set on some baby baseball toys but don’t want to specifically ask somebody to get them. This takes that issue out of your hands. And those are just a couple of the benefits.
Along with the benefits, however, are some things that you really want to avoid doing. There are some do’s and don’ts that some new mothers are not even aware of when it comes to setting up a baby registry. In this article, we will go over some guidelines to keep in mind when setting up a baby registry so you don’t make some common mistakes.
-
Start The List ASAP
As soon as you become pregnant or are at least trying to get pregnant you should start compiling a wishlist before you set up the registry. It’s never too early to get started with this since it is basically a rough draft. The early incarnations of the list will likely be revised a few times before the registry is active. Doing this early means that you’ll have time to make revisions as it becomes clear
If you start the registry as soon as you find out you’re having a baby then it will be rushed and there will certainly be things you never add and later on wish that you had.

Don’t Only Add Expensive Items
A major faux pas is to add only expensive items to the registry. This will make you come across as greedy and a bit crass. Not everybody can afford some of the items and they will feel like they aren’t able to help. Others will not want to buy some of them as they are on a budget or are simply offended that you didn’t put some more modestly priced necessities on the list.
All of this can be avoided by putting a wide range of priced items on the list. There are plenty of things that you need that you will be glad to have even if they are on the inexpensive side of things. Those that want to help but don’t have the money can get those items.
You can still put some expensive items on the list such as a stroller or crib since there will be people who can afford it and will want to spend the money.

Have Multiple Registries
You may think that you have to pick one major retailer that will provide just about every item that you need. They may not have all the items that you want, however. This means that you should set up registries with different retailers. You can have a few of them so people can choose which one they will shop from so you get more of your wishlist.
