The relationship between a mother and daughter is special and unique. To deepen the connection here are some mother daughter bonding ideas that you’ve got to try with your daughter no matter how old you both are.
Mother Daughter Bonding Ideas
Whether you are celebrating an important date like a birthday or just wanting to spend some one on one time with your daughter, going out for lunch is a fantastic way to bond.
This will give you a great opportunity to spend time alone with your daughter and have a really good talk. I find that it is not always easy getting time alone with my daughter and I really enjoy being able to talk to her and find out what is really going on in her life.
If you are celebrating her birthday make sure to get a special birthday card wishing daughter as a mom.
I personally cherish these lunch dates with my daughter because they strengthen our relationship and keep us close. I hope that we will have these lunch dates long into the future when my daughter is an adult.
A spa day is always fun and sharing these pamper sessions with your daughter will make her feel ultra special. Whether you have a massage, get a manicure or have a facial it will be a great day out.
What I love about this bonding experience is that it will reinforce what I am trying to teach my daughter about self love and taking care of herself. What better way to indulge in a bit of self-care than having a spa day?
My daughter just loves shopping, especially when it is for new clothes. She loves nothing better than having the time to browse the shops and try on everything she likes. Making it a special mommy daughter shopping day is just what she needs to really enjoy the shopping experience.
The best part is that you can also add in a lunch after shopping to finish the day off.
Mommy and Me Hair Day
You will be hard pressed trying to find a young lady or woman that does not like having her hair done. So book a joint appointment at your favourite hairdresser to have your hair done together.
You can get matching hairstyles or go for something unique, either way it will be a fun outing together.
Crafting/ DIY Day
Whether you are into knitting, crochet, sewing or restoring old furniture there are plenty of fun projects that you can do with your daughter. The bonus of this type of bonding activity is that you can pass on your skills to your daughter, or you can learn new skills together.
I love teaching my daughter how to knit and crochet. I have many fond memories of my mother sitting with me explaining how to do certain stitches and even now advising me on crochet projects that I am busy making.
My daughter also loves anything to do with making the home nice, so she is keen to join me with anything that has to do with restoring furniture or making something for the house.
My daughter loves looking through the memory boxes I’ve put together for her and my son with all the special things I’ve collected. Why not create special scrapbooks for each year adding photos and other important things you have saved from activities you have done together?
Scrapbooking can be so much fun and you can make them into fun bonding experiences while creating them.
Going For A Walk
Now while going for a walk might not be anything fancy and it might only be a twenty minute walk but what it lacks in excitement and length of time it very often makes up for in quality.
I value talking to my daughter and when she opens up to me I am very grateful. Some of our deepest and most meaningful conversations have happened on a short beach walk together. Don’t underestimate how important these moments are.
Hike and Picnic
As I mentioned above taking a walk together can be a great way to spend time together. To make more of a day of it head out to the closest nature reserve with a picnic in your backpack and take a hike with your daughter with a picnic at your destination or at the end of your hike.
One of the things I am also wanting to teach my children is the importance of an active and healthy outdoors lifestyle. What better way to bond with my child and teach her this important lesson than to take a hike together.
