River Market Restaurant Review – Divine Platters On A Spade

I thought I had published my River Market Restaurant review a few months ago when we visited the first time before we moved to Velddrif, but it turns out I only posted about on social media and completely forgot to write my review on my website. We went again recently to celebrate my son and father in law’s birthdays and I wanted to share my review again, only to find I hadn’t written it, so here it is.

The River Market Restaurant and Shipwreck Bar is located at Piet Orlam Road, Pelican Harbour, Velddrif. It is right on the Berg River with spectacular views. They serve breakfast, burgers, light meals, platters, toasted sandwiches, and more, as well as a kiddies menu. Cocktails and shooters are also served. They have outdoor seating overlooking the river as well as indoor seating. Live music is often happening on the weekends.

My River Market Restaurant Review

We first went to River Market Restaurant a few months ago to try out their ribs and chicken platter which is served on a spade. It was a cold and gloomy day so we chose to sit indoors. The platter was incredibly good and the service was friendly and quick.

We went back to eat there in December to celebrate my son and father in law’s birthdays. It was a beautiful day so we sat on the deck overlooking the river and there was live music which was fantastic. The service was a little slower than before because it was busy, but it was not a long wait for our food.

We want to go back sometime and try their seafood platter.
