South African Mommy Bloggers Daddy Bloggers

I’m going to head this off with my blog, Kaboutjie, then all the other South African mom blogs and dad blogs will be listed in alphabetical order so they are nicely organized and easy to find.

Kaboutjie Mommy Blogger

Kaboutjie

Kaboutjie started out as an online store in 2012 and I started blogging as a way to bring traffic to my website. I fell in love with writing and very soon after finding an amazing blogging training platform I closed my online store and started blogging full time in 2015. It was the best decision ever, blogging is so much more flexible than running an online store and I find so much joy in blogging.

You will find a variety of topics shared on Kaboutjie, from parenting to mental health and home décor. I write product reviews and share tips for moms, as well as share some personal experiences.

A Million Beautiful Pieces by Desirae Pillay

A Million Beautiful Pieces by Desirae Pillay

My parenting journey began when I was eighteen years old on the heels of a complicated childhood. Being a teen mother was difficult but learning that my daughter, was diagnosed with cerebral palsy was even more so. I was married and divorced by the time I was twenty-one years old. I mourned in silence the loss of my hopes and dreams. In time, I came to grips with the reality of her diagnosis and I was also blessed to meet my amazing husband. I went on to carve out a most unique career that is diverse as it is fulfilling. I write to share the insights I have gained from being a teenage mother to a child with a disability, to give hope to women in crises and to share God’s story in me. I write to share faith, hope and love with the world.

Chronicles Of Lisa and Cassidy

Chronicles of Lisa and Cassidy

I started my blog after becoming a new mom and a single mom not too long after. As a writer, I’ve always found it helpful to write in order to process and to deal with the noise going on in my head. It helped me connect with an amazing community of women. Women I now consider dear friends. And the content has expanded to my honest portrayal of being a mom, lifestyle challenges and joys, and the amazing moments I share with my daughter Cassidy. There are people who don’t understand what it takes to be this honest and vulnerable, especially on Instagram where everything seems to be glamourous, but there is nothing better than opening up about something and giving someone else the courage to do the same. If I make one person feel a little less alone, my heart is full.

I started this blog in 2013 because I was a first-time mom and I needed a platform to gather my thoughts and speak about all things motherhood. I wanted to connect with other moms through this platform because I knew to a certain extent could relate to what I was going through. This blog has come a long way and I’m so super proud of it. I blog about everything motherhood, and I have also branched out to lifestyle, travel, health and a lot about my fitness journey. It has its ups and downs. I love that because it’s all a journey…

Just a Mamma

Challenges are inevitable but I am determined to make the most out of this “motherhood journey”. Filling our lives with God, love, adventure, fun and the odd Mojito or two. And that’s how Just a Mamma came to be…

A space for Mamas by a Mama. Intended to inspire, motivate and be helpful. No judgement or expert advice – just gorgeous photo shoots, fun celebrations, great finds for mamma and baby, inspirational moms I have come across, places to go and vacations to have, as well as my own journey of motherhood and family life.

I share the ups, downs, highs, lows and pyjama drill moments as well as some awesome tips, finds and things I am learning as we go along.

It’s a sisterhood of motherhood and everyone’s invited to be part of this mama-squad of girl-bosses, mompreneurs and awesome stay-at-home mamas, fiercely raising their tribe because deep down, we are all “just mammas”.

Learn With Confidence

Learn with Confidence is all about equipping moms to help their children succeed.

As a teacher and mom, I’ve seen how much moms sometimes struggle with supporting their children emotionally, developmentally and academically, simply because they haven’t got the tools to do it!

So my vision for this blog is to create a space where moms can find the encouragement, support and resources they need to help their children reach their full potential.

You’ll find

  • Articles about how to cope through the challenges of motherhood – ‘coz if mama’s struggling she can’t support her kiddos effectively!

  • Practical tools for helping your child learn effectively, from a young age into primary school.
  • Resources to help your child understand concepts and apply them so they can experience academic success.

Mama To The Power Of 4

Mama To The Power of 4

I am a mama of 4, wife to one, and I blog about the joys and experience of living life as a large family. I love trying and experiencing new things (as my parents always encouraged us to live outside the box), I am learning to use a filter for my brain and mouth, and I am an absolute girlie-girl at heart. I adore all things new, exciting and pretty.

This blog is our (continual) journey of faith. Of learning to raise independent, loved, well-behaved children. Keys we have discovered to a
successful marriage. How we manage our finances. Products we love, and work for us, and most importantly; how we shop, save, and budget as a large family.

We do not have all the answers. This is only our experiences, our opinion, and our journey. But we hope we are able to inspire you, impart
wisdom, shed some positivity and light, and encourage you to live a full life.

Miller In The City is a parenting and lifestyle blog. The blog boast a collection of post based on my personal experiences.   I am “part-time” blogger as I have a full time job; so blogging has been a let-out where I can write down my thoughts and rambles.   It enables me to share ideas, advice and experiences with the world as I try to balance work and family life.  With my children being older; I now have a different parenting style as to when they were babies, toddlers and preschoolers.  This allows me to write about what I am currently experiencing as a mother of a tween and teenager.  The challenges that are being faced with this new phase of parenting as well as the joys.  As we are outdoorsy people and like to make memories as a family, my blog also covers travel and lifestyle segments of places we have explored. I love food and am an avid baker and therefore recipes and a few restaurant reviews are also featured on my blog.

She has worked with well known publications, celebrities, authors, designers and world renowned brands; such as Mattel, Pampers, Disney, Hasbro, LEGO, Rookie USA (Converse, Nike, Jordan), Michael Hill USA, and many more.

Jacqui not only holds qualifications in both education and psychology, but has also self-published her first book “My Forever Mommy”, which is a beautiful short story that serves as a helpful doorway for adoptive parents and caregivers to discuss the journey of adoption with their children.

Jacqui believes strongly in community and uplifting others. She is a go-getter, a project starter, and a creative force to be reckoned with. She writes about her “hallelujah” moments and perfect fails in parenthood, mental health and marriage.

One Step At A Time Blog

One Step at a Time

One Step at a Time started to document an infertility journey and all about Nicholas, my son, who is now 8 years old.  However life had other plans. I had a husband for almost 15 years, but in June 2018 a devastating stroke kept him immobile in hospital for more than three months until he died in October. Infertility pales in comparison with this new struggle, and the blog has taken on a different direction to document my new life in widowhood. I also moved from Johannesburg to Port Elizabeth and after many years of teaching in the classroom now teach online.

Peanut Gallery 247

Peanut Gallery 247

So why did I decide to blog? It’s very simple, my story didn’t start out great, in fact, it was very far from that. I had been through lots of heartache and I wanted those experiences to serve as inspiration to others. My initial posts are about relationships and inspiration and selfcare/self-development.  As life changed with me becoming a mom, my content also changed. I now share pieces of my life, which isn’t perfect, but it’s always true as I am all about keeping it real. So from enjoying wine, to parenting challenges and reviews of places and things, that’s what you can expect to find on my blog.

In case you’re wondering why I chose the name Peanut Gallery 247 – let me first explain that. When I was pregnant, we chose not to find out the gender, so that little human that was growing inside of me, we referred to as “Peanut”. Someone in the family then created a WhatsApp chat group so that we could update everyone through our pregnancy journey and the group was named “Peanut Gallery”. When registering my domain, Peanut Gallery on its own was not available and I then opted to add 247 – cos I’m from then already, I was loving my little Peanut 24 hours a day and 7 days a week.

The Bird and the Beard Blog

the Bird and the Beard

the Bird and the Beard is an honest mom blog. I blog about my adventures in parenting my two chaotic boys with my bearded partner-in-crime, my husband Dave. I post about the highs and the lows of parenting, the champagne and the poo-namis, the parenting wins and the momfails. It takes a village and a vineyard to raise a child, and I want to connect with other moms so that we can offer advice to each other, commiserate with each other, drink wine with each other, and support each other, so that we all know we are not alone on this crazy journey.

The Book Tree

The Book Tree is a children’s book review website that aims to grow young readers and writers.  We’re here to help you find the best books for your child, inspire a love of reading, share tips and resources for reluctant or struggling readers and give recommendations for eager book worms.  We love blogging about everything bookish! We’re also passionate about children’s literacy and getting books to children throughout South Africa.  Fun fact – we’re busy launching our Book Box service with carefully selected books for your children and we create bespoke book packs per order.  Drop us a line and tell us what you’re looking for!

The Dad Dude

The Dad Dude

There’s a lot of important things I do in life, but being a dad of five little kids is hands down, my life’s most important work. Yet like so many other dudes, I gravitate to outward success that’s easier to attain and further from the grueling chaos of sticky floors and screaming toddlers. I’m tempted to take a back seat in parenting, barely scraping through the crazy years, where validation tends to run low, exhaustion is the name of the game and results take too long to hold my attention.

But I got thinking – what if I applied the same intentionality and focus I give to my work and surfing to raising my kids? And if I took that approach, how do I stay on it?

The Dad Dude is the result. It’s a blog for dads and moms in the trenches of trying to raise kids and remain sane. I try to write a weekly post that is at once inspiring, real and helpful to fellow battle-weary folks out there.

The Daily Gabs

The Daily Gabs

Being a stay-at-home, homeschooling mom can be challenging but so rewarding. I share my parenting hacks (although I don’t think there are any real ones), experiences and thoughts on all things blended family, kids and pets.

We have been homeschooling for the last 3 years and I share my experiences, knowledge and resources. I don’t know it all but I have done tons of research and have lived experiences. I do talks on the British Curriculum and I am always willing to help.

A modern woman can do it all, right? Well sometimes it’s difficult to keep all the balls up in the air and that’s okay. I believe in finding your tribe and building a safe place where you can lean on one another for support and encouragement.

The blog came about as a result of lockdown and me feeling as if my voice was not being heard. The biggest part of my life is being a mom I have wanted to be a mom for as long as I can remember and the blog shares some insight into this journey. It is a snapshot into our lives the life of a creole venda family trying to create our own rules and traditions.

2 Dads and A Kid

TwoDadsAndAKid

We desperately wanted to father a child or two. However having considered the exhaustive process as well as the reality that a surrogacy would still not guarantee us a baby, we decided on the adoption route and initiated the search for the ‘perfect’ process to follow.

While we scouted for an adoption agency I started my blog to basically journal our journey to parenthood. It was supposed to have stopped when we became parents. Somehow it’s evolved to a platform where I now share some of the highlights of our journey as two gay dads raising a child, and who knows, maybe one day our son will read it and it will help him understand his journey. I know that some of our friends that read my blog are encouraged in their own parenting journey and who knows it may also assist others on their journey to parenthood…gay or not.

Today we enjoy spending time outdoors cycling, running or swimming, and supporting each other on race days. As dads we hope that it encourages our son to appreciate the outdoors, and also be passionate about being active. Life after all isn’t just about the PlayStation!

Wearing All My Hats Mom Blog

Wearing All My Hats

I’m Kate. I am not Superwoman (although I’d like to be!) nor am I a Pinterest-perfect queen with a creative eye, who has cute printables and an immaculate home! I’m just a regular woman in her thirties who loves to write. You’ll find my messy and honest thoughts on the expectations that drown us as women to multi-task – be a wife, mom, friend, mentor, and house keeper! And, aiming to do it all well and not just fall over the finish line  at the end of the day is enough to put anyone in a mad house! So this is just a bit of how I try (and fail regularly!) to wear all the hats!
