4 Great Reasons To use Beeswax Wraps

4 Great Reasons To Use Beeswax Wraps

  1. Eco-friendly alternative to plastic baggies

With all the buzz that is created around following an eco-friendly lifestyle and using less plastic, reusable beeswax wraps offer a great alternative for wrapping sandwiches for lunch instead of using plastic bags.

  1. Keeping food fresh

It happens all the time that you don’t need an entire lime or lemon for a recipe. Instead of cluttering your fridge with putting citrus halves in containers, simply wrap them in a wrap.

Sometimes you need a variety of cheese for your cheese platter and almost always we must throw away the remaining wedges after they’ve gone mouldy or hard in the fridge after a few days. It’s not as easy to store cheese like keeping left-over stew into a Pyrex dish. Now you can wrap the leftover cheeses in wraps and keep them fresh for longer.

Beeswax wraps are also perfect for wrapping nuts, biltong or dried-fruit snacks when you’re going on a road trip or a hike.

  1. Reusable and long-lasting

Beeswax wraps are reusable and easily cleaned with cool water and a mild detergent. Simply hang them out to dry and re-use. An excellent substitute for Ziploc bags or plastic wrap.

  1. Mixing it up

Although you get the traditional wrap designs, there are many eye-catching design and colour options available on the market today. You can mix and match the different patterns to set the family members’ lunches or snacks apart.

  1. I never knew about beeswax wraps. What a great idea. I hate using plastic as it is not eco-friendly. It is a great alternative. I always take recyclable paper bags when I go shopping.

I’m so glad I could introduce them to you Gwen. Clingwrap is the worst and you can’t recycle it and beeswax wraps do the job just as well 🙂

  2. I’ve never heard of these, but that is just what I need. I cut fruits in half all the time for my kids and always have to throw the remainder in a little Ziplock bag — that adds up to a lot of plastic by the end of the month! So nice to see there are eco-friendly alternatives being developed for even the smallest tasks.

Exactly Alexis – and if you are into DIY stuff look up some videos on Youtube. I believe they are relatively easy to make yourself!

  3. Beeswax Wraps sounds like ideal protection for keeping veggies and other food items fresh and healthy. I like the fact that these are reusable and made of organic ingredients. The fact that they are sustainable and helps in reducing the usage of plastics adds to the value of this product. We will check out if these are available in our region too.

  4. Beeswax wraps seem like a must have for every kitchen, thanks Lynne
