First things first
The most important first step is knowing your ovulation cycle. When a couple has sexual intercourse during the time a woman is ovulating, it definitely increases her chances of getting pregnant. It is important to keep track of these daily changes, and to use a chart too.
In addition, many other tips and techniques are available that, while fun and entertaining, have nothing to do with your actual chances of getting pregnant. One’s best bet is to try to ensure good health by means of a healthy lifestyle.
Vitamins
Knowing what vitamins and supplements to take before conceiving can make a big difference. This applies for both men and women. For men, the production of high quality sperm may be enhanced through the use of several vitamins and minerals, such as zinc. This is already a component of the sperm and one that is important. The health of the sperm may be affected adversely by zinc deficiency. Folic acid, along with zinc, may help increase sperm production. Vitamin E also allows for higher quality sperm production. Vitamin C aids in the mobility of the sperm, which is another important aspect. Otherwise, the sperm may clump, and move more slowly, if at all. This vitamin also helps to protect existing sperm from oxidative damage and stress.
Some nutrients are more vital than others for women trying to conceive. Just as for men, folic acid can be a great asset for women. In combination with other B vitamins, folic acid can help decrease the risk of birth defects to the baby. It may also help in preventing miscarriages. A healthy DNA and RNA are formed through folic acid in the system. These minerals and vitamins top the list to increase your chances of getting pregnant. They also ensure a healthy pregnancy overall.
Things to Avoid While Trying to Conceive
Besides having a healthy lifestyle, and supplementing one’s diet, there are, of course, things that must be avoided when one is trying to conceive. A healthy weight is a good start for trying to conceive. Being underweight or overweight can adversely affect one’s ability to conceive easily. Optimal fertility chances include having a BMI (body mass index) of between 20 and 30 percent. There are plenty of websites online that have a BMI calculator where one only needs to input height and weight to find the results.
Smoking, excessive drinking or the use of drugs reduces one’s chances of getting pregnant. Fetal alcohol syndrome in infants results from too much alcohol use during pregnancy, and can cause developmental problems in a child for life. Most how to get pregnant tips revolve around staying or getting healthy and fit. This applies to both the man and the woman. The best thing to begin with is a medical exam for both partners. Any problems can be discussed at this time, too. One’s medical care practitioner can give instructions for how to increase chances of pregnancy, along with how to have a healthy and safe one.
