Connecting Through Creativity – The Importance of Creativity in Children

There have been multiple studies conducted to show that creativity and well-being are positively linked. Psychologist Bernice Castle agrees, saying that art and creativity help the development of children in various ways. “Art can be a powerful tool among children and adults alike. If children engage in hands-on art activities, they learn much better in all disciplines.”

Castle continues, “Art helps children apply their gross and fine motor skills to something meaningful and tap into their problem-solving skills through visual cognitive responses. Art has been proven to stimulate imagination, improve observation skills, boost self-esteem, provide a sense of accomplishment and reduce stress.

“Finally, art creates opportunities for them to communicate how they see and experience the world and allows them to give expression to their feelings about the situations they encounter in their daily lives,” she concludes.

Surviving Baby’s First Cold And Flu Season – A Parent’s Guide

Ah, the joys of welcoming a new bundle of joy into your life! As any …

  1. I need to consider setting up an art station inside. we currently have 1 set up outside as my 2.5 year old son can become quite messy. As I work from home – Sundays are dedicated to an hour filled with creative fun. This is anything from messy play to creative arts.

I will definitely set daily challenges for each child and reward them in the evenings when dad returns from work.

  2. I can not wait to start trying some of these activities with my son.

  3. A really good topic!

  4. Its a fantastic idea to set up an art station my daughter is 5 years old always drawing and sticking pictures around the house.

  5. I love creating with my kids
From baby home made paint to now.

  6. Being creative does not have to entail a lot we get creative with everything around us. We use water to pint on paving slabs outside. We draw on the garden walls with giant chalk and let the rain wash it away. Homemade clay lasts for weeks and whilst i cook the kids make me a clay dinner! Just use what you have- that as a start encourages creativity ?

  7. I definitely need to set up an art station! Eli and I love getting creative with messy play but it’s not always out and ready for him so I love this idea♥️
