About Kaboutjie and Lynne Huysamen

Hi everyone! Welcome to my blog. Here I share everything and anything about my journey as a mom.

Kaboutjie started off as an online baby and toddler store that supplied quality clothing and baby products manufactured in South Africa. I launched the business just after I had my first child. I then also started selling wholesale baby clothing made in South Africa.

It was an incredible journey that included opening up a little shop in Langebaan which I ran for two years. My vision was to have a lovely successful business that I would be able to run while bringing up my children. This of course would mean having people I could rely on as staff and as suppliers.

Over a period of a few years it became very clear that the level of service supplied in this country on every single level is just quite frankly not up to scratch. From Eskom’s electricity cuts, to the SA Post Office not even being able to supply an envelope never mind actually send any orders out, to Telkom not being able to supply a working internet connection and countless other suppliers that just could not or would not deliver.

I think I have a bit of a control issue, I’ll be honest here. I want to supply quality products and to also give superb service. Making a mistake and fixing it up is one thing (that I can deal with) but continuously being let down by suppliers and then in turn letting down customers is not on my agenda. The aspect I really dislike here is that I have no control at all over this situation.

This is very stressful and not part of my dream.

While this was going on during the years I started blogging and learning about online marketing. I have to admit that I really fell in love with blogging! So I launched another two websites in passions of mine.

Feel free to check those out, one is my recovery from addiction website and the other is one about making money online.

So fast forward to 2016 and another round of disappointments from suppliers and I couldn’t see the sense in continuing with an online store when I can just blog instead!

I made this huge leap recently and I am so incredibly happy! I work in my own time now and I have my two beautiful children home with me.

I am so looking forward to being able to be myself and say things how they are, instead of feeling like I should be careful about what I say and how I say it because I own an online store. Blogging is a different world where I can let it all hang out!

So please feel free to share your parenting experiences here, I look forward to hearing from you.
